Sea of Thieves has just released its Season 15 update ‘Wild Things’, which aims to improve the wildlife on islands and in the sea. New challenges bring a new, exciting and briny generation of pirates. Will you answer the call? Writes W. Wootten and L. Luck.

Gamers can enjoy exciting encounters with new colossal Megalodons. Up until this point, there has been one version of megalodon, the regular grey one. The first time people see them, it has the intended effect of terrifying the unlucky crew, but recently the sight of them is nothing more than an interesting sight on the horizon. This is now fixed with the addition of two new megalodons, the Feared Redmaw and the Barnacled Dread. An interesting fix is that these two new megalodons start hostile, compared to the normal variant which used to spawn neutral but now is hostile immediately.

The Feared Redmaw
A new flaming monster lurks in the sea's briny depths. This is a lava inspired meg that preys around the Devil’s Roar Islands, but can spawn in other places too. The Feared Redmaw will appear as a red shark fin with flames below it.
Each time the Feared Redmaw targets your ship, it will charge your vessel and attempt to bite it. When it chomps down, it will light your boat on fire and create several holes in the hull. To stop the giant shark from charging, you must damage it enough during its charge to cancel the attack.
Another monster will petrify ever gamer. The Ancient Feared Redmaw also builds up heat over time. If left alone, the Ancient Feared Redmaw will eventually overheat and unleash an incendiary blast that will rock your ship and leave it with several holes. You must continually damage the Feared Redmaw to release its heat gradually and prevent the giant explosion.
Killing the Ancient Feared Redmaw will reward you with various Ashen treasures. Hopefully, the beast will also relinquish some Ancient Feared Redmaw teeth and scales.
While not guaranteed, you can find Grisly and Pristine Feared Redmaw teeth and scales amongst the loot pile. The Grisly teeth and scales are much more common than the Pristine, which are worth more. You can sell them to the Hunter’s Call, Reaper’s Bones, and Sovereigns.

The Barnacled Dread
There’s even a creature that’s inspired by coral but it’s more deadly than mega-shark. The Barnacled Dread is bigger and slower than regular megalodons. It is also an expert tracker. Once you engage with it, you can expect it to follow you further across the Sea of Thieves than other megalodons.
On top of its shock-filled bite and ability to call in reinforcements, the Barnacled Dread is covered in coral plates, making it almost impenetrable. However, destroying the coral armor reveals weak spots you can target to inflict significant damage.
The sound you’ll hear when you hit the coral differs from if you just hit its skin, letting you know you are chipping away at its protective layer. When you damage the coral enough, they will break away, revealing a weak spot.
The weak spots on the Barnacled Dread look like glowing blue scars. You’ll know you’ve hit a weak spot as an electrical blast will radiate from it when damaged.
You can ignore the weak spots and damage the Barnacled Dread like any other megalodon. However, that will prolong the fight longer than it needs to be, as damaging its skin doesn’t do much. The most efficient way to defeat the Barnacled Dread is to break through the protective layer and hit the weak spots. You can use cannonballs, firearms, and other tools of destruction at your disposal.
Killing the Ancient Barnacled Dread will reward you with various Coral treasures. You can sell them to the Hunter’s Call, Reaper’s Bones, and Sovereigns.

Hunters Call New Features!
The Hunters Call Trading Company, previously considered the worst trading company due to difficulty, level limit and lack of variety, has a brand new update bringing new missions! Here is a list of new changes;
The Quest Table now offers a range of Voyages on demand for The Hunter's Call, allowing crews to sail or dive to their location.
New Fishing Voyages provide hunters with the locations of Treasured Fish where they gather near islands, tasking them to retrieve these new fish for the Company.
The Treasured Fish caught from these Voyages are unique and highly valuable, so they cannot be cooked, eaten or stored in a player's inventory. They can be handed in for gold and reputation, but beware – they can also be stolen by other pirates!
Hunter's Call Raid Voyages allow players to experience any of the eight existing Raids on demand, while awarding new Hunter's Call treasure.
Crews can now represent The Hunter's Call as an Emissary, boosting their rewards as they go hunting across the seas. On reaching Emissary Grade 5, crews should keep an eye on the ship's map as recent sightings of Ancient Megalodons will now be shown.
Players sailing as an Emissary will now appear on The Hunter's Call Emissary Ledger and be eligible to earn new rewards.
Players can now climb to rank 100 with The Hunter's Call, with new rewards from the Killer Whale set to unlock as they progress. Reaching the lofty rank of 100 will unlock the Hunter's Call Costume along with a Distinction Ring, allowing players to continue representing the Company towards their next Distinction.

Vibrant Island Life
This new season is bringing a more exciting set of island updates with new animals. Expect to see lizards, seagulls, jellyfish and wild boar roaming the islands. You can capture these creatures in special cages and baskets that can be bought from the Merchant Alliance or found on islands. These then can be sold at Hunter’s Call or Merchant Alliance.
We think that the new update is great for Sea of Thieves and has plenty of new content for new and old players. Happy Sailing!
