Every year in the UK, it seems that the summers just keep getting hotter. Is this just weather or a worrying sign of global warming, writers D Boar
Three years ago on July 19th 2022, the temperature reached over 40 degrees Celsius in the UK and broke the all-time temperature record in the UK, taking everyone by surprise. I think it is fair to say that no one was fully prepared for that day and many people just could not come with the sweltering heat. Luckily, since then, there has not been a day that has come close to that heat. However, heatwaves have become more frequent and more intense, and expert scientists say that although not common, forty-degree or higher temperatures are an increasing hazard, especially in south east England.

So, yes, it is getting hotter in the UK, and while this isn’t a great concern, every single person in the UK should be wary of the effects of climate change, and do as much as they can to not accelerate the lasting effects of it.
The government is expected to bring in a ban of petrol and diesel vehicles, which currently make up 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and many cleaner solutions are currently being developed to replace greenhouse solutions.
So in conclusion, yes our summers are getting hotter, and if action is not taken, we could be looking at constant high 30 degree temperatures in summer. This year’s summer followed the heat pattern and proved that higher temperatures are not a fluke in the UK anymore.
